Your papers

Paper Desk runs in your browser. The papers you build, and any pictures you add to them, are saved in your browser's IndexedDB storage on your own device. They are not uploaded to Paper Desk or to any other server. We do not receive them, read them or keep a copy.

Because papers exist only on your device, clearing your browser data deletes them. You can export a paper as a file to keep a backup, and import it again later. A paper file is created on your device and goes where you save it.

You are responsible for the questions and other material you put in a paper. Do not type private information about students into a paper you will share.

What is stored on your device

  • IndexedDB: your saved papers and the images you add to them.
  • Local storage: your choice of light or dark theme, and your answer to the cookie bar, when the cookie bar is shown.
  • Service worker cache: a service worker keeps copies of the site's own files (pages, scripts, styles, fonts) so the paper maker can open again when you are offline. It does not hold your papers.

You can remove all of this in your browser settings by clearing the site's data. That also deletes your saved papers.

Advertising and analytics

On the live website, Paper Desk uses Google AdSense to show ads and, when it is switched on, Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. These services belong to Google and run only on the live site, not in local or test copies.

A cookie bar lets you choose "Accept" or "Decline". The services use Google's consent mode: until you accept, in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland they store no cookies; elsewhere they may store cookies unless you choose "Decline". After "Decline", Google stores no new cookies for analytics or ads and the ads you see are not personalised. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer.

Analytics never receives the content of your papers: not the questions, the institute name, the file names or the pictures. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads in Google's ad settings. Google's use of the data is covered by Google's own privacy policy.

Hosting

The site is served by a hosting and network provider (Cloudflare). As with any website, the provider processes technical request data such as IP addresses and browser type to deliver pages and protect against abuse, under its own privacy policy. These requests do not include your papers.

If you write to us

A message sent to paperdesk@whisperperks.com reaches the publisher with your e-mail address and any details you choose to write. We use it to answer you. Please do not include exam papers that are not yet public or private information about students.

Children

Paper Desk is made for teachers. It has no accounts and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Advertising choices are governed by the cookie bar as described above.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Questions: see the contact page.
